I'm going to ask you, because I need some help here. Have you ever found any cold remedies that really work? At least three times a year I develop what can only be described as a nasty cold, and I end up suffering with it for at least two weeks. During these period not only can I not find any time to work, and my house is a total mess. My husband is very understanding, but after a while he starts to get grumpy. My son and my daughter want me to play with them but I am always so stuffed up that I get dizzy and feel like I am about to fall over.
Surely there has to be some cold remedies out there that I have yet to try. Something has to work. I can take some medications that work for a while, but after they wear off I feel worse than before I took it. Since I cannot be on a steady diet of medicines while I am watching 2 young children, I have to think of other cold remedies to help ease my cold into something a little more bearable. When I take cold medications I get clumsy, and that is not a good thing when my kids are so active and may get into so much trouble.
My mom has tried to suggest me some rather interesting cold remedies, but none of them have worked like I need them to. She’s a nurse, so that is why I asked her for cold remedies, but she is also a smart aleck, so really don’t know what to think. Check this out: she has told me to put a cough drop in a bowl with boiling water and to then cover my head with a towel and put it over the bowl. I swear I saw that in a movie once, and I wonder if it really works or if she is pulling my leg. I do know that it doesn’t work very well, though it does offer minimal comfort on my worst days.
There are many cold remedies out there, but I fear none were made with moms in mind, or at least I should say that were not made with me in mind. Dayquil works wonders, but it also has a bad affect on my head and my mind. It makes me loopy, and I cannot focus while I am on it. Nyquil works at night, and so do some other meds. These cold remedies worry me though, because I cannot wake up properly if my children need me. Until someone can help me, I’m afraid I must suffer through.

What Do You Know about Eating Disorders?

I watched something on TV about eating disorders that really showed me what it was all about. I think it was on HBO and it showed the ups and downs of some women who were in treatment. Most of them were bulimic and anorexic, but I didn’t see any of them that were over eaters. I guess when most people think of eating disorders they don’t think of the ones that don’t stop eating.
I can’t say I understand eating disorders, and I guess that would be because you have to go through it to understand it. It’s like having a disease or perhaps being a minority. That’s ok though, because there was something weird about watching those who were wasting away to nothing who thought they were ‘fat’. You can’t truly understand what it is like unless you know first hand. That doesn’t mean I don’t try to understand all of these things, and when something like the subject of eating disorders comes up, I try to learn all that I can. One big reason for this is because I have a young daughter and I think that having knowledge about the subject might allow me to know what it going on earlier if she were to ever develop a problem.
The biggest thing I learned about eating disorders is that they are not really about food. They are mostly about control. Their self-image seems to be warped. A healthy, even thin woman with an eating disorder looks in the mirror and sees something there that no one else can see. You can’t discount this as something that it is not. If they have a problem, they aren’t going to just snap out of it. They have to find out why they are doing that, and then find a way to work through it. This program showed me that many can’t work through it, even if they try. They may be ok for a while, but they tend to go right back into it once they are on their own.
If you have daughters, you might want to learn about eating disorders. You should know the signs, and what to watch out for. You may not understand what they are going through, but the sooner you figure out what is going on, the sooner you can get treatment. Eating disorders kill. If a person continues without treatment, they are very likely to die. Some who get treatment don’t make it through, so you can imagine how bad it is for someone who is left unchecked in their misery.

Lowering Cholesterol Levels Without Medication
The U.S. has a serious eating problem. That statement may tick you off. Sure, I may understand it, but unfortunately it probably means that you're already overweight. Now there's no reason to get offended or toss your computer out the window. This is your life we're talking about here. What it is time for is a diet and lifestyle change.
